The actual cache is close to an old abandoned railroad fill
in the (LRWMA) Lake Russell Wildlife Management area. That is
interesting in itself. But what is cool is that it is crossing
a river, and they built a "tunnel" for the river to
go under the fill. I have pictures showing a side
view a view
into it, north
side, an indication of how deep
the water is and a look showing the
roof..
Now the man who told me about it also said currently there
are less than 50 people in the world that have seen it. So you
will have little work to become one of the few. You will have
to go to about 6 stages, which will expose you to some of the
history of the area. These will all be reachable by vehicle.
In fact the roads in LRWMA while dirt, are currently good
enough for cars. When you see the first one the others will be
obvious. You will also have to make a decision.
This multicache is a little different from most multicaches.
Instead of next to last stage having the coordinates of the
cache box. Each of the first stages have part of the
coordinates of the cache box. The coordinates of the cache box
are AB CD.EFG HI JK.LMN. At each of the first stages you will
see coordinates of the next stages and some letters followed
by numbers example A3H8. This means A equals 3 and H equals 8
in fact this is correct values for A and H, which I am sure is
a big help right.
Note added 7/16/03 I screwed up!
I thought I had double-checked everything, but the
coordinates which should be the cache are really the
coordinates close to the tunnel. I found it when I
downloaded the waypoints in my GPS. I should be able to fix
them this weekend.
This is the only way I can think to let you know if you
got the incorrect coordinates and how to adjust without
giving it away.
It is the decimal minutes of both latitude and longitude
that are wrong.
One of wrong coordinates will end with "23" it
should end with "10", the other wrong coordinates
will end with "49" it should end with
"19"
End of Note
Then once you have the coordinates of the cache you will
find there is a road all the way to the railroad fill but it
is blocked to vehicles, which is the main reason so few know
about it. So it will be time to find one of the parking spots
and hike, it is a little over 2 miles. I had to get permission
to place the first stages, again when see them you will
understand why I had to get permission.
If you need it, there is pdf
