Allen's GPS page

Introduction

This will be the place I put information about the various GPS activities I do, like Geocaching, Degree Confluence Hunting and anything else done with GPS. For now there is not much,

The Degree Confluence Project

The goal of the project is for people to visit each of the latitude and longitude integer degree intersections in the world, and to take pictures at each location.

My son and I were first to visit Confluences  35°N 83°W and  35°N 84°W. Then he, my brother Johnnie and I were second to visit 34°N 85°W

What is Geocaching

Geocaching is FAMILY oriented, outdoor activity.  At thousands of locations in the United States and all over the world, people have chosen locations that they feel should be seen and enjoyed by others. These Geocachers have hidden a cache (a waterproof container) filled with small toys and other items in an appropriate place nearby, then posted the coordinates for the cache location on a web Site. There are several, the one I use is http://www.geocaching.com.

Caches

You can see the caches I have hidden, some with my son, others with my brother.

These are the caches I have found, some by myself, some with my son, some with my brother.

There are lots of things that can be used as a geocaching containers. Here is how I prepare cache containers.
